House where AJ Freund lived could be razed

The city of Crystal Lake is pushing to demolish the house where 5-year-old AJ Freund is alleged to have been beaten to death in April.

Crystal Lake's special counsel said the community filed a complaint after inspectors found rodent infestation, mold and other code violations and determined the house where AJ had lived was uninhabitable.

Attorney David Pardys said the parents, Andrew Freund Sr. and Joann Cunningham, were served with the complaint at the McHenry County jail, where they're being held on murder charges. The boy's body was found in a shallow grave about a week after he was reported missing.
