Lemont man charged with DUI, battering Lisle officer
A Lemont man is free on $25,000 bail after authorities said he battered a Lisle police officer during a DUI arrest early Saturday morning.
Thomas Navickas, 25, of the 600 block of McCarthy Street, is charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, DUI, resisting a police officer, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with one headlight, improper lane use and speeding.
Lisle Deputy Chief Ron Wilke said an officer stopped Navickas' 2007 Chevy Equinox about 1:25 a.m. Saturday on Maple Avenue near Elm Street for several traffic violations.
Navickas eventually was arrested after showing signs of impairment, police said.
"He actually refused all field sobriety testing prior to resisting his arrest," Wilke said Monday morning.
After a physical struggle, an officer took Navickas to a squad car, where authorities said he spit in the officer's face, causing irritation in her eye.
The officer was treated at Edward Hospital in Naperville and was released to duty.
No further information was available Monday.
