Ex-Wheaton College student pleads guilty to theft for stealing classmates' technology

A former Wheaton College student accused of stealing from classmates' dorm rooms has been sentenced to probation.

Sion Park, 19, pleaded guilty Thursday to theft of less than $10,000 and was sentenced to two years of Second Chance Probation diversion program and 20 days in the Sheriff's Work Alternative Program (SWAP).

If he successfully completes the two-year probation, no conviction will be entered.

Authorities say Park entered unlocked dorm rooms over several weeks in January and February and stole iPhones, a watch and a MacBook from at least two of the rooms. School officials were made aware of the thefts and contacted Wheaton police.

The investigation led police to Park, who was initially charged with several counts of burglary and was briefly held on $100,000 bail before posting 10 percent and being released Feb. 24.
