Deanne Mazzochi hangs on to Illinois House 47 seat
Republican Deanne Mazzochi, recently appointed to the 47th House seat, appears to have won her first full term over Democrat Jim Caffrey.
With 116 of 120 precincts reporting Tuesday night, Mazzochi held a lead of 24,912 votes to Caffrey's 21,923 in unofficial tallies.
Mazzochi, the current chairwoman of the College of DuPage board, has vowed to resign that post with this victory.
The 47th District includes all or parts of Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Hinsdale and Westmont.
