Prairie Ridge High School girls basketball coach charged with financial exploitation

The girls basketball coach at Prairie Ridge High School is facing charges of financial exploitation of an elderly person.

Rick C. Lima, a gym teacher and coach of the Prairie Ridge girls basketball team, was charged with two felony counts of financial exploitation of an elderly person more than 70 years old, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court.

According to the complaint, Lima allegedly used more than $50,000 that belonged to the person on two separate instances on July 10. If convicted, the two class 1 felonies with which he is charged could carry penalties of up to 15 years in prison.

The Crystal Lake Police Department could not be reached for comment.
