Car stolen from DuPage County complex parking garage
Wheaton police are searching for a man who they believe stole one vehicle and damaged two others Thursday morning at the DuPage County government complex parking garage.
The stolen vehicle, a 2005 black Chevy Cobalt, belongs to an employee of the public defender's office, according to a bulletin posted by the DuPage County Sheriff's office.
The vehicle was left unlocked, and the keys were under the seat, Wheaton police Lt. Bob Miller said in an email Friday.
The same suspect damaged one vehicle on the second floor and another vehicle on the third floor of the parking garage at 509 N. County Farm Road, Miller said.
The damaged vehicles each had a window shattered. The suspect also rummaged through the vehicle on the third floor, but nothing was taken, Miller said.
The suspect is described as a black man in his mid-20s.
According to the bulletin, he was wearing a white T-shirt, white sweatpants and orange sandals and carrying a black backpack. Police believe the man may have been in the courthouse before 10:23 a.m. Thursday.
