Elburn leaders want more info on proposed holistic treatment center
A vote on a 40-bed holistic addiction treatment center for a historic mansion in Elburn was delayed to early July as village trustees Monday asked the petitioner for more details about the plan.
Village Administrator John Nevenhoven said village trustees listened to public comment and ultimately asked the petitioner to provide more information, such as the facility's site plan, how the center will be run, and uses for all the buildings on the 10-acre location.
Residents have concerns about safety and security for the proposed Illinois Holistic Addiction Treatment Center, which has been pitched for the 19-room mansion on the village's north side built in 1897 by lumber executive John Stewart.
Miami Beach Holistic Addictions Treatment Center, LLC, which has an accredited facility in Florida, has proposed the center and the plan was recommended by the village's plan commission.
The village board will revisit the issue at its meeting at 6:45 p.m. July 3 at village hall, 301 E. North St. A majority vote of four trustees is needed for approval.
