Neighbors in the news: COD announces its new director of human resources
College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, has named Alma Camarena director of human resources.
A seasoned human resources professional, Camarena has provided human resource solutions to organizations in various industries, including food and beverage and manufacturing. She most recently served as manager of human resources at Grecian Delight Foods, where she led three cross functional teams while implementing human capital systems and key customer-required audits.
"As an accomplished human resources leader, Alma's expertise will help the department continue the good work that it already has accomplished, and she will play an integral role in enhancing the college's reputation as an exceptional workplace," said Maritza Ruano, vice president of human resources, College of DuPage.
Camarena holds a master's degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University.

Park Ridge native and Oak Park resident Matthew Glavin, a member in Cozen O'Connor's Public Strategies Group, was named to the Law Alumni Board of Governors at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
The 30-member Alumni Board of Governors advocates for the law school and its members and acts as advisers to the School of Law Office of Alumni Relations and Development and to the dean of the School of Law. Glavin's three-year term is effective immediately.
"Our Law Alumni Board of Governors is a dynamic group of leaders from Chicago's legal community," said Loyola University Chicago School of Law Interim Dean Zelda Harris.
"Matt is a longtime friend and contributor to the law school. We are thrilled to have him join our board and share his professional experience and expertise in advocating for our school and in helping to secure enhanced career opportunities for our students and alumni."
Glavin, who joined Cozen O'Connor in 2019, has helped drive the expansion of the firm's government relations and public affairs practice, helping clients navigate the legislative and regulatory landscape in Illinois.

Mark Zullo of Naperville was named vice president of sales and marketing at Friendship Senior Options, which oversees Friendship Village of Schaumburg and GreenFields of Geneva.
Zullo studied health service management at Benedictine University in Lisle. After graduation, he work at a senior living community in Northlake. He then accepted a sales position at Friendship Village in Schaumburg, eventually leaving to hold leadership roles at several other retirement communities.
Zullo, who has worked in senior living for more than 30 years, is happy to return to the organization that helped launch his career three decades ago.
"It was a no-brainer," Zullo said. "I knew and loved the product. Friendship Village has a history of more than 44 years as a leader in the industry, and GreenFields has been part of the organization for 10 years. I'm very proud and excited for what we have to offer older adults."

Attorney Mildred Palmer, one of the founders and partners at Navigant Law Group, LLC, spoke recently to the Northwest Suburban Bar Association on the Electronic Wills and Remote Witnessing Act.
"It's an honor to speak to my peers in the NWSBA," Palmer said. "It is a great organization for continuing education and for improving the quality of law practiced in this area. I'm grateful to have had this opportunity to share my experience with other attorneys."
Navigant Law Group, LLC, is a women-owned enterprise that was recently rebranded after providing legal services under the name Waltz, Palmer and Dawson for more than a decade. The new entity has moved to 3030 Salt Creek Lane, Arlington Heights.
