Moretti's fans rejoice: The 10th location of the well-known Italian restaurant and pizzeria officially opens at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in Barrington. Known for thin crust and Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, housemade meatballs, hand-sliced Italian Beef, "Mile High Lasagna" and more, the newest location features a main dining room, a large bar, an intimate lounge, party rooms, plus a four-season porch and a large deck.

Doing good

MOD Pizza is helping to fight childhood cancer by donating 20% of its sales on Friday, Sept. 20, to Charles "Peanut" Tillman and Jacob Beckley's charity, ROW4KIDS, which is raising money for cancer research. Hey Nonny gets the Oktoberfest party started with a kick off event from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, featuring a stein-holding contest, music from Finger On The Trigger, food and drink specials and free admission all day. Stop by any time between now and Oct. 6 to take advantage of Oktoberfest specials like a bratwurst dinner with German potato salad and creamed spinach for $17, Jägerschnitzel with potato salad and creamed spinach for $17, a brat with chips for $8 and hot pretzels from ButterCrumb Bakery. Oompah! Yard House celebrates its four-week Oktoberfest starting Monday, Sept. 23, with lots of beer and German-inspired victuals. Expect pours of Sam Adams Octoberfest, Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen, Sierra Nevada Marzen, Weihenstephan Fest and Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn. And nosh on German fare such as the jumbo Bavarian pretzel (with horseradish mustard and beer cheese sauce), the Bavarian pork chops, the stacked Oktoberfest burger (a double burger smothered with bacon tomato jam, arugula, tomato, grilled onions, Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard on a pretzel roll), the chicken schnitzel and potato salad, and the Flammkuchen (pizza topped with bacon, caramelized onions, and Swiss, mozzarella and Parmesan).

Running from Tuesday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 6, take advantage of Oktoberfest specials featuring housemade herb spaetzle with hefeweizen Mornay, braised pork belly, caramelized onions and brown butter bread crumbs for $13 and chicken schnitzel with a fried egg, Pilsner Düsseldorf aioli and hefeweizen-braised slaw on a kaiser roll for $14.
