DAR Packs 'Buckets of Fun' for Children's Hospital PatientsNov 3, 2022 9:13 AM - To commemorate the Daughters of the American Revolution National Day of Service, members of Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, carried on the tradition of collecting and assembling Halloween "Buckets of Fun" for young patients being treated at UChicago Medicine's Comer Children's Hospital. "Since many patients cannot have candy, we have opted to provide games, puzzles, books, pencils, markers, and other age-appropriate toys in bright orange Halloween buckets for the boys and girls ages 2 through early teen-age years," said Chapter Regent Joyce Wright.

HFCA Student's Self-Advocacy Reaches All the Way to Governor PritzkerOct 24, 2022 12:15 PM - An important component of Holy Family Catholic Academy's (Inverness) nationally and internationally recognized curriculum and instruction is to inspire students in preschool through grade 8 to learn and demonstrate self-advocacy. HFCA Principal, Kate O'Brien explains, "Self-advocacy helps students develop strong problem-solving and communication skills. The more students practice articulating their needs, the more confident they become developing solutions and speaking up for their interests." Fifth grade student, Jax Schnell has learned to advocate for himself and has taken this skill all the way to Governor Pritzker.
