Jeff Miller to talk about a fresh perspective gained after surviving plane crash

Jeff Miller, owner of Divine Signs and Graphics, a full service sign and digital graphics shop in Schaumburg, will speak at an upcoming Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce event.

"A Fresh Dose of Perspective: Surviving UA Flight 232" is the name of the talk taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at Holiday Inn & Suites, 150 S. Gary Ave., Carol Stream.

Prior to becoming an entrepreneur with his wife Michelle, Jeff worked in sales management for the wireless data and computer industries. Over the course of 19 years with companies like Motorola and Sierra Wireless, Jeff realized significant results in his career, developing high performance sales teams, distribution channels, global/national accounts and wireless data carrier relationships across the world.

On July 19, 1989, things changed. Jeff was one of 296 people on board United Airline flight 232, a DC-10, when its rear engine failed causing loss of all controls which forced an emergency landing in Sioux City, IA. There were 111 casualties.

As one of the 185 survivors, Jeff gained a new perspective on life and on business. He will talk about his story. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non members.

Jeff and his family currently live in Schaumburg. He is a member of the Bloomingdale and Carol Stream Chambers of Commerce and the Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates Rotary Club.

He serves on the boards of directors for the Schaumburg Business Association, Campanelli YMCA, and the Schaumburg Park Foundation.
