Saint Viator Calls for Submissions for Distinguished Alumni Award

Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights is calling for submissions for their Distinguished Alumni Award and the newly established Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Nominations for both awards will be accepted now through July 23.

The Distinguished Alumni Award was established to honor Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary alumni who have accomplished significant and extraordinary achievements in their careers. It is the Alumni Association's highest honor.

"Each year, we are so impressed by the submissions we receive for this award," said Alumni Relations Manager Krystal Harris (SVHS '15). "Saint Viator alumni have accomplished so much, and past recipients have included an Ivy League professor, an ophthalmologist who travels the world teaching doctors to fight blindness, one of the world's leading authorities on cybersecurity, cyberterrorism, and cyberwarfare, and a rocket scientist who uses technology to address social inequities, among others."

Each year, among the submissions of candidates with decades of experience are nominations of alumni who have achieved impressive success early in their career. So, this year, the school is introducing the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

This award will be given to an alumnus who has graduated from Saint Viator within the last 10 years. This person will show creativity and innovation with the potential for continued success in his or her professional career or personal and community achievements.

"We are very excited to be offering this new award to young alumni who are just breaking into their career," Harris said. "We hope it will encourage them to continue to make impressive strides and have an impact in their field."

Submissions for both awards will be reviewed by a committee of alumni, faculty, and community leaders, who will evaluate the candidates and select the award winners.
