E-Sports Zone opening in Hoffman Estates

Hoffman Estates Park District invites the public to the official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the E-Sports Zone in Hoffman Estates from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Vogelei Park Barn, 650 Higgins Road, in Hoffman Estates.

Local dignitaries, HEParks Board of Commissioners members, ambassadors from the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce, and other local businesses will attend the ceremony.

The E-Sports Zone is a PC and console gaming center serving Hoffman Estates and the surrounding community. HEParks is excited to bring a new type of competitive leisure programming to the area for children ages 9-18.

As the fastest growing sport globally, Esports encourage team-oriented socialization and enables players to problem solve, work together, communicate and have fun to accomplish an end goal.

As a park district program, the E-Sports Zone maintains the same quality programming, inclusion, safety and supervision the community expects from all HEParks programs.

Following the ribbon-cutting, free grand opening activities include Rocket League exhibition play between the DePaul University Esports and NIU Esports teams, Roblox and STEM activities, free play on PC and Console gaming systems, raffles, prizes and light refreshments.

Following the exhibition play, attendees can try their skills against the collegiate players during quick matches.
