The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago http://www.mexfoldanco.org was awarded a Chicago's Cultural Treasures Grant of $140,000 from The Chicago Community Trust's Identity-Focused Funds.

Chicago's Cultural Treasures is a four-year initiative to support our city's BIPOC-led and -focused arts and culture organizations as they face unprecedented challenges to their decades of leadership and resiliency.

 

$14.4 million was awarded to 40 organizations that contribute to the history, culture, vibrancy, and identity of communities of color in greater Chicago. Among them were two groups that have accompanied MFDC throughout the decades: Sones de Mexico Ensemble http://www.sonesdemexico.com and Cuerdas Clasicas Chicago http://www.cuerdasclasicaschicago.org
