Incumbent Democrat Willis wins in House District 77 race

Democratic incumbent Kathleen Willis was reelected to a fourth term representing House District 77 after handily beating Republican Anthony Airdo by garnering 64% of votes cast.

Unofficial totals show Willis secured 17,119 votes to Airdo's 9,449 votes.

Willis, a former school board member from Addison, was a surprise winner in the 2012 contest for District 77, ousting 20-year Republican incumbent Skip Saviano. Airdo, a heating and air conditioning sales representative from Melrose Park, unsuccessfully ran for the same office in 2016.

District 77 encompasses the area south of O'Hare International Airport and includes the towns of Bensenville, Villa Park, Norridge, Stone Park and Melrose Park.
