'Inspired, humbled by the kindness, dedication of the staff'

Since the pandemic began, Clearbrook has spent $1.3 million on personal protective equipment (masks, gowns, gloves, etc.), cleaning supplies, hotel expenses for staff, hazard/sick pay for those working with COVID-positive individuals, and bonuses for staff risking their lives every day.

Because of this astonishing and unbudgeted amount of money, the challenge is even greater for Clearbrook to raise desperately needed funds. Step It Up for Clearbrook, a 5K run/1 mile walk, is one of Clearbrook's largest annual fundraising events.

Don Hoeg, whose sister, Susie, has been a part of Clearbrook for 23 years, says, "This is a difficult time. Most previously scheduled fundraising events have been canceled, and Clearbrook is struggling to care for our most vulnerable population. People should register for this event to help Clearbrook keep these special people healthy and safe."

Don feels that Clearbrook has been invaluable to the life of his sister.

"We can't imagine where our family would be without Clearbrook. The organization has cared for my sister, Susie, through several serious health crises, for which we are exceedingly grateful, and Clearbrook enabled our parents to have peace of mind as they aged and dealt with their own health issues.

"Clearbrook has embraced Susie within a warm community in which she has thrived, provided her with structure and purpose through their workshop program, and established a loving 'second family' of friends in her group home.

"Above all, we are inspired and humbled by the kindness and dedication of the staff, especially in these perilous times. They consistently go above and beyond in their efforts to elevate the lives of Clearbrook's clients. They are, simply AWESOME."
