College of DuPage presents 'Defining Systemic Racism' webinar Aug. 17

College of DuPage, in partnership with Glen Ellyn, Indian Prairie and Prospect Heights public libraries, will present "Critical Conversations: Defining Systemic Racism" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17.

Part of the college's "Dialogue Over Distance" series, the virtual presentation features Associate Professor of Justice Studies Tauya Forst, COD student Justin Cunningham, COD Student Trustee Samiha Syed, and attorney Richard Forst for a discussion of the depth of racism on various systemic levels.


While this event is free, registration is required.

Participants may register through the individual libraries to join the meeting via a secure link.

The "Dialogue Over Distance" series grew out of the college's Speakers Bureau in response to COVID-19.

Since its start in April, the series has presented on a broad range of topics, including backyard astronomy, economic resiliency amid COVID-19, the 2020 election and social inequalities during the pandemic. Speakers have included experts from COD's faculty and staff, as well as individuals such as Angel Price, attractions engineering services manager for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
