Glendale Heights man accused of trying to kill ex-girlfriend in Streamwood

A Glendale Heights man who prosecutors say struck, kicked and choked a former girlfriend until she lost consciousness was ordered held on no bail Tuesday.

Terrell Wilson, 30, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, which is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors say police found Wilson hiding under a bed at his mother's home.

They say Wilson contacted the woman on Jan. 10. She agreed to go to an Elgin casino with him and stay overnight in a hotel, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Loukas Kalliantasis. On Jan. 11, the woman drove him to his mother's Glendale Heights home and returned to her home in Streamwood, Kalliantasis said. Upon entering, she saw Wilson sitting at the table.

After taking her phone, he punched her face and body while accusing her of cheating on him, Kalliantasis said. This occurred over several hours during which he kicked her, threatened her with kitchen knives, choked her and told her "she would not get out of the house alive," Kalliantasis said.

Eventually, the woman persuaded Wilson to sit in the car with her, Kalliantasis said. She began honking the horn to attract attention and assistance, at which point Wilson began hitting her again, Kalliantasis said.

She eventually fled to a neighbor's house and called police.

She was admitted to Amita Health St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where she remains for treatment of a ruptured artery in her neck, a nose fracture and multiple scrapes and bruises, prosecutors said.

Wilson has four felony convictions for resisting arrest, retail theft and disorderly conduct dating from 2011 to 2017. He next appears in court on Jan. 30.
