Scary Good Fun All Month with HEParks

This October enjoy tricks and treats with Hoffman Estates Park District (HEParks). This month take advantage of the great weather and Halloween spirit at one of the many fall-themed activities and special events. Check out the complete list of October programs online at HEParks.org/events. Some of the activities require pre-registration; you may enroll for these programs in person at one of HEParks community centers or online at HEParks.org.

Have some reel good fun at the annual catch-and-release fishing derby at Fabbrini Park, Saturday, October 5 from 8:00 a.m. through noon. Pre-register using #239085 - $ 5R/$7NR. Ages 2+ No walk-up registration accepted.

Celebrate fall at the free Pumpkin Fest event at Vogelei Park Saturday, October 12 from 11:30 a.m through 2:30 p.m. Enjoy pumpkin decorating, the climbing wall, hayrides, inflatables, live music plus much more!Please bring two cans of food or a $2 donation for each pumpkin. Proceeds go to the Schaumburg Food Pantry.

Spend the weekend golfing at Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13. Saturday morning golfers can participate in an 18-hole individual stroke play tournament $65 per player beginning at 10:00 a.m. Ticket ID# BPCFinal. Sunday morning gather up your friends and play in the Pro-AM Four Person Scramble. $500 per team. Ticket # BPCPROAM. Volunteers needed for a morning of seed collecting and conservation at Charlemagne Park October 19, at 9:00 a.m. The seeds collected will be used to naturalize local parks in the spring. While collecting seeds learn about wildflowers from the HEPark's Supervisor of Park Grounds. This event is part of the Hoffman Walks, a monthly free walk and talk program.

New this year - Trunk or Treat! Children can Trick or Treat from car to car at SEASCAPE from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19. Businesses and organizations will decorate their vehicles and provide Halloween Goodies for children. Come in costume; we'll supply the treat bags. The fee is $3 for attendees. Calling all teens, ages 10-17 years, for a free evening of bowling and fun at Poplar Creek Bowl Tuesday, October 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This trip includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza dinner and soda. Round-trip transportation to the bowling alley from Vogelei Teen Center, 650 Higgins Road, is provided. The trip is free, but pre-registration and a signed waiver are required. ID# 245700.

Preschoolers can come dressed in their Halloween costumes to the Preschool Halloween Bash, October 26 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Triphahn Center. Enjoy pumpkin decoration, Halloween games, crafts and snacks. All children attending must pre-register by 10/25. There is no day of event registration. $5R/$6NR ID#245919. Ages 1-7 years.

Swim in our indoor pumpkin patch and choose a pumpkin to decorate at Pumpkin Swim in The Club at Prairie Stone indoor pool. Don't miss this unique Halloween event. Two sessions, 1:00 am, and 2:00 a.m. are available on Saturday, October 26. $15R/$20NR. ID#240719.

Ice skate for free, Sunday, October 27 at Triphahn Center during Pumpkin Skate from 3:00-4:00p Come dressed in your Halloween costume and receive a free public skate admission for use later. Arrive 45 minutes early for skate rental.

Celebrate the Halloween season with a Halloween Lights & Trolley Tour aboard a private enclosed trolley Monday, October 28. This 18+ trip begins at 4:00 p.m and includes transportation to Naperville from the Triphahn Center, dinner at Aurelio's and the trolley ticket. Registration for this trip closes October 14. $49 per person. The tour ends at 9:00 p.m.

Kids climb for your treats at this fun climbing themed Halloween event October 30 at The Club at Prairie Stone. Rock climbing friendly costumes encouraged. Participants can enjoy crafts while waiting their time to climb. Ages 5-13 years, $12R/$15NR. 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m start times.
