CCU Announces Candidates for Election to Board of Directors

Libertyville, IL January 30, 2019: Consumers Credit Union ($1.3 Billion; Waukegan, IL) recently introduced the candidates for the Member-owned Credit Union's Board of Directors. Eleven (11) candidates are vying for four (4) positions on CCU's 13-Member Board, with the election scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee, IL. The election will be held in conjunction with the historic credit union's 89th Annual Meeting.

Nominees for election include the following (listed alphabetically by last name, alongside city of residence; incumbent candidates are identified with an "I" following their names): Lekecia Barclay, Palatine, IL; Daniel J. Burdett, Round Lake, IL; Ann Campanella (I), Gurnee IL; Geoffrey Chaumette, Gurnee, IL; Jean V. Kartje, Wadsworth, IL; Horacio Lopez, Wadsworth, IL; Jamaine Parish, Chicago, IL; Joseph Rajcevich (I), Waukegan, IL; Christine Serwinski, Schaumburg, IL; Barb Sorensen, Palatine, IL; Frank Soyka (I), Green Oaks, IL. Those elected will each serve three (3) year terms, beginning with the March 28, 2019, Board Meeting.

"There are many benefits to credit union Membership, and none are more important than having a voice in the governance by our Members," noted Sean M. Rathjen, the credit union's CEO. "The ability to run for the Board of Directors and to vote in the Board election is quite unique to the credit union industry. Thanks to our extremely active Membership, we have eleven highly-qualified candidates interested in serving on our Board."

Voting at the Annual Meeting will be certified by CCU's CPA firm, Wipfli, Ullrich, Bertelson LLP. After results are certified, those elected will be invited to attend the Board's next meeting on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The agenda for this organizational meeting of the Board of Directors includes the election of Officers for the coming year and identifying who will serve on the Board's various standing committees.

In addition to the election of Board Members, the credit union's Annual Meeting will update Members on CCU's 2018 financial results. Annual Reports recapping the Credit Union's 2018 performance will also be distributed at the meeting.

Additionally, Consumes Cooperative Association, the credit union's sponsor, will hold their annual meeting that evening, immediately following CCU's Annual Meeting. During their meeting, Consumers Cooperative Association will announce the winners of 15 - $2,000.00 scholarships.

Approximately 300 Members and guests are expected to attend CCU's Annual Meeting at Great Wolf Lodge, 1700 Nations Drive in Gurnee, IL. Tickets are available in advance for $15.00 each on a first-come, first-serve basis at all Credit Union Service Centers; no tickets will be sold at the door. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.
