Israel Policy Forum's Policy Director Michael Koplow to Address Glencoe's Aitz Hayim
Michael Koplow is Israel Policy Forum's Policy Director, based in Washington DC. He is a regular contributor to Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy magazines, and his columns on Israel and the Middle East provide the most intelligent, balanced, nuanced and sophisticated commentary on Israel and the American Jewish scene. He will share his perspective on February 6 from 7:30 - 9:30 pm at the Glencoe Park District Takiff Center, 999 Green Bay Road in Glencoe.
Koplow writes the weekly "Koplow Column" and edits Israel Policy Exchange. Before coming to the Israel Policy Forum, Michael was the founding program director of the Israel Institute from September 2012 through September 2015. He holds a BA in history from Brandeis, a JD from NYU, a Master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard, and a Ph.D. in political science from Georgetown.
Koplow will help North Shore Jews understand America's expectations for Israel, and explore how our memories, visions, and ideals of Israel fit with what we and our children see and read in the papers. He will help attendees understand how we use and tolerate the cognitive dissonance of our critical thinking and apply it to ideas American Jews hold as central in Jewish identity.
The public is invited at no charge, but RSVPs are requested by emailing aitzhayim@gmail.com.
