Open house puts Bloomingdale library in new light

Bloomingdale residents got a chance to see their library in a whole new light Tuesday during its annual holiday open house.

Festivities included Santa flipping the switch on the holiday tree outside the building and then all sorts of activities inside, where visitors could listen to music by a harpist, a pianist and the Lake Park High School Jazz Chamber Choir.

And if music wasn't their thing, kids also could make crafts, participate in some gaming, or get their picture taken with Jolly Old St. Nick.

The open house will be followed by the village's Festival of Lights celebration at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Old Town Park, 111 Third St. That party will feature horse-drawn carriage rides, crafts, family bingo, card decorating and a return engagement by Santa.
