Timothy King
The former IT director of a private college prep school in Evanston is headed to prison for about six months.
Timothy King, 45, of the 1000 block of Arbor Court in Wheaton, was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography. He must serve half the sentence and will receive credit for the more than 500 days he's been held in DuPage County jail on $300,000 bail since his Oct. 8, 2015 arrest.
King also must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Prosecutors said Wheaton police discovered more than 6,000 images of child pornography on his computer and an external hard drive during an investigation.
Kevin Smith, headmaster at the Roycemore School, at 1200 Davis St. in Evanston, has said the campus was shocked by King's arrest. The school's enrollment of 235 students includes children as young as 3 through high school.
Officials said none of King's alleged activities took place at the school.
