$100,000 bail set in Clarendon Hills robbery

A 20-year-old Bellwood man has been charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated battery in connection with an attack in Clarendon Hills.

Prosecutors say Enkhbold Naidandavaa, of the 3600 block of St. Paul Avenue, stole a woman's purse after a brief scuffle outside a Jewel grocery store. His bail has been set at $100,000.

Naidandavaa, wearing a ski mask and dark clothing, approached his victim from behind while she was loading groceries into her vehicle about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, prosecutors said.

They said the woman briefly struggled with Naidandavaa before he pulled what was later determined to be an air-soft pistol and pushed her to the ground as he snatched her purse.

Willowbrook police officers arrested Naidandavaa about 10 minutes later four blocks from the store.

"The allegations against (Naidandavaa) are extremely disturbing," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement. "This type of outrageous conduct will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force of the law."

Naidandavaa's next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 17 in front of Judge Liam Brennan.
