Ari Hest plays the ECC Arts Center Club May 21

Singer/songwriter Ari Hest will perform at the Elgin Arts Center Club on Saturday, May 21. The performance will be held at 7 p.m. in the ECC Arts Center's Club located in the Building H SecondSpace Theatre on ECC's Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Indie-folk musician Ari Hest crafts songs rooted in his signature pure acoustic instrumentation and distinctive smooth, resonant voice. Over his 15-year career, Ari Hest has released eight albums, three EPs, and "52" in 2008, an innovative project whereby he wrote, recorded, and released a new song every Monday for a full year.

Hest is also half of the folk pop duo The Open Sea with Rosi Golan and the Brazilian music-inspired pop duo Bluebirds of Paradise with Chrissi Poland. Hest's music has also been featured in the film "The Lincoln Lawyer;" TV shows "Private Practice," "Army Wives," and "One Tree Hill;" and NPR's "All Things Considered."

Throughout his career, he has toured worldwide sharing the stage with Sheryl Crow, Judy Collins, Suzanne Vega, The Finn Brothers, Declan O'Rourke and The Fray.

Tickets are $25. Hest will be performing in the ECC Arts Center Club which transforms the SecondSpace Theatre into an intimate candlelit cabaret. Tickets are available online at tickets.elgin.edu or at the ECC Arts Center box office.
