The suspect, a black man identified by police as 27-year-old Christopher Hornezes, fled in a silver 2004 Hyundai Elantra that he is accused of carjacking Thursday night in Waukegan, police said. He is described as 5 feet, 6 inches, weighing about 200 pounds and last seen wearing a long beige shirt, blue skinny jeans, and a brown wig with a ponytail.

Gurnee and Waukegan police said they are conducting a joint investigation. Gurnee police say they have a warrant for Hornezes' arrest on charges of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. Waukegan police also obtained warrants on charges Thursday's armed robbery and carjacking.

Gurnee police say Hornezes entered a business on the 6900 block of Grand Avenue about 9:30 a.m. Friday and displayed a knife before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.

At approximately 8:50 p.m. Friday, police allege Hornezes robbed the Subway near Lake-Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook. Police said he was wearing a long wig, yoga pants, a skirt, a striped top and white athletic shoes.

At approximately 5:40 a.m. Saturday, police allege Hornezes robbed the Shell/Circle K station on Milwaukee Avenue and Aptakisic Road in Lincolnshire by brandishing a knife as he jumped over the counter while the cash drawer was open. He was wearing the same clothes as in Northbrook.

Police said he is believed to still be driving the Elantra, license plate A552071, that he stole in Waukegan. The victim was parking in an alley in the area of Clayton Street and North Genesee Street when she was approached by a man who displayed a knife and engaged in a brief struggle, causing her minor injuries, police said.
