Learn all about the 'Mighty Oaks of Kane County' Oct. 17

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County invites you to come learn about the "Mighty Oaks of Kane County."

The oak tree was once hailed as king of the forest. People called it magnificent, majestic and mighty. But that was then. Now, oak woodlands are in serious decline.

Join district naturalists on this guided hike, where you'll get "up close and personal" with some of our venerable oaks and learn how to identify different species. You also will learn what the forest preserve district is doing to restore oak woodlands - and how you can help!

This nature program takes place from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Dick Young Forest Preserve, 39W115 Main St., Batavia.

Advanced registration is required for this free program. To register, call (630) 444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com.
