Rolling Meadows prevails against Schaumburg

In took three sets, but Rolling Meadows finally pulled out a 2-point win in the final one against visiting Schaumburg to cap a thrilling Mid-Suburban League girls volleyball crossover on Tuesday night.

Hannah Mickey (11 kills), Maddie Sellergren (9 kills) and Jenny Srnak (7 kills) led the attack for Meadows (5-2) in a 26-24, 18-25, 25-23 triumph.

Megan Mich (16 assists) and Megan King (10 assists) set the Mustangs' offense.

The Saxons (4-4) were paced on attack by Mallory Gerber (12 kills) and Abbie Rahn, who put down 10 kills while also serve receiving 19 times and notching a pair of blocks.

Gerber also served received 21 times and was 11-of-11 serving.

Jordyn Harberts handed out 16 assists and Lauren LaVigne had 16 digs.

Fremd d. Elk Grove: Fremd improved to 6-2 with a 25-5, 25-15 victory.

The Vikings received 11 kills, 3 aces and 1 block from Ysabel Lee.

Rebecca Uhrich added 6 kills and Mackenzie Bednarek 3 for the Vikings, whose attack was set by (Holly Straup (13 assists) and Natalie Freund (11).

Rachel Kandefer had 2 kills and Alex Masnica 2 assist for the Grenadiers (1-7).

Hersey d. Hoffman Estates: Liz Fuerst had a match-high 8 kills and Katie Rozanski added 5 as host Hersey evened its record at 4-4 with a 25-14 25-7 victory.

Emma Strozewski (11 assists) and Maggie Reisel (8 assists) handled the setting chores for the Huskies while Fuerst had 7 digs and Zoey Strozewski collected 4 blocks.

Palatine d. Prospect: Haley Holz (7 kills), Carrie Chaplinsky (7) and Heather Holz (5) led the attack for visiting Palatine in a 20-17, 25-20 victory.

Sydney Christiansen handed out 24 assists for the Pirates (5-2) while Alyssa Kronberg (17 digs) and Ally Foltman (12) were leaders in the back row.

Prospect (2-2) was led on attack by Maggie Porwit (5 kills) and Mary Mazurek (3) while Michelle Haaning handed out 12 assists. Nikki Giammarino had 15 digs.

Buffalo Grove d. Conant: Sara Tolvstad (7 kills), Dana Stutzman (5), Gina Bolis (5) led the Buffalo Grove attack in a 25-11, 25-20 victory.

Anna Fasuna had 22 assists while Stutzman served 6 aces for BG (2-6) against the visiting Cougars (1-6).

Barrington d. Wheeling: Megan Talbot (8 kills, 3 blocks), Cecilia Stack (5 kills, 1 block), Gabby Morris (6 kills, 3 points) and Ana Zawisza (20 assists, 7 points, 1 ace) helped lead visiting Barrington (3-6) to the 25-19, 25-16 MSL crossover win.

Timber Terrell put down 6 kills and Hala Fakhoury had 9 digs for the Wildcats (2-11).

Leyden d. Morton: Senior Emily Steininger (8 kills, 2 aces) and junior Autumn McGee (4 kills, 18 assists, 1 ace) helped lead the host Eagles to a 25-21, 25-16 victory.

Resurrection d. Maine West: Resurrection won the nonconference match 25-21, 25-13 over the visiting Warriors who will take a 3-6 record in to today's Central Suburban League crossover against Maine South.

Joliet Catholic d. St. Viator: Joliet posted a 25-16, 25-13 victory over the host Lions (5-4, 0-1) in the East Suburban Catholic match.

Alyssa Forbes (5 kills), Carrie Leazer (3) and Gabi Thomas (3) led the St. Viator attack which was set by Michaela Mueller (10 assists). Ellie Meyer collected 10 digs for Viator.

Christian Liberty d. Westminster Academy: The Chargers were led by Emily Naubert (4 aces), Maddie Bennet (3 aces), Cassie Swiderek (6 kills), Angie Nichols (4 kills) and Jasmine Marsh (3 kills) in a 27-25, 25-23 victory.
