Through July 31, Warren's Ale House in Wheaton is hosting the Illinois Tap Takeover and BurgerFest. More than 20 Illinois breweries, including Goose Island, Solemn Oath, Pollyanna Brewing Company, SlapShot Brewing Co., Revolution Brewing and many more, will be featured on Warren's taps with different craft burger specials created by chef Mark Downing to match. Wash the suds down with the Banh Mi Chicken Burger, the Jerk Pork Burger or the Tunisian Lamb Burger, to name a few. Warren's Ale House is at 51 Town Square, Wheaton. Brew Brawl 2015: city vs. suburbs
Who makes the best beer - city or suburbs? Eat, drink and decide patio-side at CityGate Grille beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29. Matchups include Metropolitan Krankshaft v. Solemn Oath Happy Fun; Off Color Apex Predator v. Penrose Devoir. The evening includes six rounds, each complemented by food off the grill - like the grilled shrimp and scallop with rosemary and charred jalapeno-mango relish. $60 per person. Q Bar recently opened in Glendale Heights and offers food, drinks and off-track betting. Specials include Tuesday's taco night: $1.50 beef tacos, minimum three with purchase of a drink, and $16 Corona and Modelo buckets and $3 Cuervo shots. Shoot pool all night for free, with a purchase.
