Schaumburg Culver's to Offer Free Custard Pint Feb. 19 to LifeSource Blood Donors

Culver's Restaurant in Schaumburg is partnering with LifeSource by inviting customers to donate blood from 1-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, at its restaurant at 1800 Wise Road.

Each person that registers to donate blood will receive a coupon for a free pint of Culver's famous fresh frozen custard. The restaurant chain affectionately calls this promotion, "Give a Pint, Get a Pint."

"Our friends at LifeSource mentioned that the heavy snow and cold weather we had weeks ago really put a crimp in their daily donations," Culver's of Schaumburg franchisee Jim DiVerdi explains. "I told them, 'We can help fix that: we'll treat everyone who donates a pint (of blood) on Thursday with a pint of our tasty custard.'"

Culver's is no stranger to helping the Chicagoland blood center whenever it can. Last summer, some 40 Chicagoland Culver's hosted LifeSource blood drives at its suburban locations. The result was more than 1,000 pints collected from Culver's patrons.

Each pint of blood collected, LifeSource says, helps to support up to three lives.

"We're tremendously grateful to our friends at Culver's who not only understand the unpredictability of Chicago weather, but more importantly, our need to maintain blood supplies for area hospitals on a 24/7 basis," says Chad A. Douglas, LifeSource Executive Director of Blood Operations.

In preparation for their donation, donors are asked to eat well, stay hydrated and arrive with proper identification. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent).

To schedule an appointment, contact LifeSource at (877) 543-3768, or visit www.lifesource.org, and use Group Code 274D. Walk-ins are welcome.
