Man charged with DUI after driving into Barrington Hills pool

A Schaumburg man escaped injury but was charged with drunken driving after his car plunged into the swimming pool behind a Barrington Hills home early Thursday morning.

Bikramjit S. Sian, 30, faces charges of driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or more and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after the crash shortly after 4 a.m. on Longmeadow Court.

Barrington Hills police and Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District paramedics responded to the scene at 4:09 a.m. By the time officers arrived, Sian was out of the vehicle, but told them that three others remained inside.

Police officers entered the swimming pool, but found no one else and determined that Sian had been driving the silver 2006 Honda Coupe alone.

The home's owner had called 911 after seeing headlights in her backyard just before the vehicle drove into the pool. She then was able to pull Sian from his vehicle.

Sian was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates for observation. No injuries were reported.

Barrington Hills police continue to investigate the crash.
