Addiction recovery seminar for churches, groups offered June 19

Nearly half of today's population is touched by alcoholism or drug addiction, and families everywhere are desperate for solutions to the destructive behavior that this sickness brings.

Cornerstone Community Baptist Church, 307 Banbury Road, North Aurora, recognizes the helplessness that so many feel in the immediate Fox Valley area.

In response, the Rev. Frank Russo will host a free seminar offering help, education and support to churches, organizations and families on Thursday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Learning the basics of addiction recovery and life restoration services, whether you are a pastor, church organization or family member is a logical first step," Russo said. "The keynote presentation by Dan Johnson of New Day Ministries focuses on bringing God's grace to those broken by alcohol and drug abuse - including prescription medicines."

New Day Ministries specializes in biblically based approaches to addiction recovery and solutions with an emphasis on providing a family path. Johnson understands the burdens of addiction and ministers by helping pastors and church groups respond to abuses. Russo is committed to tackling this problem with a gospel based approach and is making the event open to anyone that wants to improve their response to the need or seeks help.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Register by Monday, June 16, via email at frankarusso@aol.com.
