Kasemets, Mundelein sink Vernon Hills
Oakland University-bound Ayrton Kasemets sped to a pair of individual wins and swam on two victorious relays, as Mundelein’s boys swimming team cruised to a 128-51 win over visiting Vernon Hills on Thursday.
Kasemets won both the 50-yard freestyle (22.67) and 100 breaststroke (59.24) decisively. He along with Mike Ward, Ryan Magee and Duncan Black opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay (1:44.63).
Mundelein’s victorious 400 free relay (3:28.30) was comprised of Black, Jude Krauss, Eric Kozokar and Kasemets.
Krauss was also a double-winner in the individual events, touching first in the 200 free (1:54.82) and 100 free (52.78). He touched out his teammate Black (52.87) in the latter. Mundelein also got wins from Nick Arendt in the 200 IM (2:18.81), Matt Angelbeck in the 100 butterfly (1:03.17), Will Garcia in the 500 free (5:23.39) and Kevin Franz in diving (245.95).
Vernon Hills’ Brian Rabinowitz won the 100 backstroke (57.53) by nearly four seconds. The Cougars also captured the 200 free relay (1:36.01) with Danny Strohl, Jeffrey Zhang, Conrad Kocoj and Nathan McAdams.
