Conant deals Palatine a setback

Kazuki Morita had a game-high 4 goals and four other Conant players had 2 each as the Cougars handed host Palatine its first Mid-Suburban West loss of the season in boys water polo action Thursday with a 15-9 victory.

Christian Kalfas, Krystian Kalev and Alex Brons each had 3 goals for Palatine, which played Conant even in the second half but was outscored 9-3 over the first two quarters.

Fremd 12, Hoffman Estates 6: The Vikings’ victory creates a three-way tie for first in the MSL West as Fremd, Conant and Palatine are all 3-1 in the division.

Schaumburg 15, Barrington 8: A 6-goal effort from James Birriel helped the host Saxons pick up an MSL West victory.

L.J. Peterson and Dan Skiroock both scored 3 times, and Schaumburg keeper Marty Faleni made 12 saves.

Barrington got the bulk of its scoring from Chase Lesniak (6 goals).
