Hoffman High boosters to host trivia night

Hoffman Estates Loyal Parents (HELP) will host its fifth annual Trivia/Game Night from 6 to 11 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Sears Corporate Center, 3333 Beverly Road, Hoffman Estates.

The adults-only event is open to the community. All proceeds will benefit students and programs at Hoffman Estates High School. The event is sponsored by Fabbrini Flowers Inc. and The Divizio Group Inc.

“What makes this event so successful is we are able to keep costs down,” said Alan Brostoff, committee chair. “Each team brings their own food with them. It’s a very important part of Hoffman Estates’ culture because the entire community comes together not only to make donations and beautiful baskets, but to have fun and raise money for kids.”

The game night will feature tables of teams that compete against each other during a trivia game. Individuals’ knowledge will be tested when it comes to food and beverages, history, music, sports, movies, famous people, and other topics.

Each team must create a theme for its table, which leaves a lot of room for creativity. There are no limitations on themes or costumes as long as they uphold standards that are in place at the high school. The team with the most creative or best theme will win a special award.

Last year’s event drew more than 300 people on 36 teams. This year’s event will have live music for the first time. Pat DiNizio, lead singer and guitarist of the Smithereens, will perform and also be part of music trivia.

Some table games in previous years included challenges such as seeing how long someone could make the peel of an orange without breaking it.

There will be live and silent auctions during the trivia game, as well.

“It’s the largest HELP fundraiser, and it helps add money to what we can give back to extracurricular and curricular programs,” Brostoff said.

The cost of an individual seat is $25 per person. Preregistration is due by Feb. 15. For information, contact Alan Brostoff at (847) 312-6053 or email abrostoff@yahoo.com
