Fox River Grove fireworks show bites the dust

Crispy drought conditions have prompted Fox River Grove officials to postpone Saturday night’s fireworks show — until Sept. 8.

But the fireworks show scheduled for Wednesday in Huntley is still a go, though authorities are taking precautions to ensure it goes off without a hitch. The fire department on Tuesday wetted down the area and will continue to do so Wednesday.

The fireworks display will take place at dusk, outside the Huntley Outlet Center.

Sleepy Hollow still will hold its fireworks celebration on Wednesday.

Elgin this year is participating in a joint Northwest Fourth Fest celebration at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. Fireworks are scheduled for Wednesday night.

Elsewhere in the northern Fox Valley, Cary postponed its Tuesday night fireworks display until a date to be determined later this summer.
