Angel Crisps
½ cup granulated sugar, plus extra for rolling
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two or three cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together sugar, brown sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla. Add flour, salt, soda and cream of tartar. Form into 1-inch balls. Dip balls in water and then roll in granulated sugar. Place prepared sheets and bake 8-10 minutes.
Makes four dozen.
