Dist. 211 college night coming Wednesday

Around the end of the school year, Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 holds a board meeting, with outgoing seniors recognized for their achievements during the school year.

At that time of the year, these students know where they'll be heading in the fall for college, and those sitting in the audience get to hear the names of a variety of prestigious universities. The students and their parents beam with pride. The students dress up. The parents snap photos to add to their scrapbooks. It's all smiles.

District 211 provides programs to help match their students with the right school. One of those programs is College Night, which is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Palatine High School, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road. More than 200 representatives from 2-year and 4-year colleges and military academies will be on hand with information. The event is open to all District 211 students and their parents.

Students and their parents have the chance to watch 30-minute presentations from college representatives and receive information from the NCAA about athletic eligibility, including the recruiting process.

Free shuttle bus service will be provided to the event from other District 211 schools, as parking at Palatine is limited. Call Barbara Compobasso at (847) 755-1648, or a District 211 school college/career counselor for more information.
