We shouldn't have to declare party to vote

In the Feb. 5 Neighbor Fencepost was a letter from Mike Brown of Mount Prospect, about open primaries. Mike, you took the words right out of my mouth. Why do we have to declare a party?

I normally find people on both sides that I'd like to vote for, but of course, you presently cannot do this. I've already heard rumblings about Republicans voting Democratic so they could get Stroger out of office!

So how many Republicans did not get votes because of this ... could change the course of who runs in the election. I normally declare Dem, and (did) in this case, because I wanted to vote for Toni Preckwinkle.

Everyone needs to e-mail Durbin and Stroger and voice their opinion on this. If you just type in their name on your search line, you can get to their page and send an e-mail. So lets do it.
