"The Music Man" opens in Des Plaines

Christian Youth Theater's production of the musical theater classic "The Music Man" runs

Friday, Feb. 12, through Sunday, Feb. 21, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at Prairie Lakes Theater, 515 E Thacker Ave., Des Plaines.

More than 95 local students ages 8-18 years are involved. "The Music Man" tells the story of con man Harold Hill, who arrives in River City, Iowa, intending to cheat the community by selling them music lessons although he has no musical skill.

His plan is foiled when he falls for the town librarian, but he manages to enrich the town with a love of music and to himself learn a lesson in moral responsibility instead.

The show runs about two hours with one intermission. It is recommended for people of all ages.

Jason Long, of Lake Zurich is featured as Harold Hill and Meghan Warren of Mount Prospect is playing Marion, the librarian.
