Coat drive a heartwarming success

Earlier this month, I partnered with Naper Settlement, the Naperville Jaycees and Indian Prairie School District 204 to host a Warmer Weather Coat Drive. As your State Representative, it was extremely heartwarming to see the outpouring of generosity from our community.

I am pleased to announce that we collected coats for these schools: 50 coats were presented to Longwood, 20 coats to Brookdale, 49 coats to Gombert and 24 coats to Waubonsie Valley. There were nearly as many sets of hats, gloves, mittens, boots and snow pants.

The successful coat drive makes me so proud to live in such a giving community. Many families are facing hardships they never imagined due to the daunting economy. I am confident that this small gesture made a big difference in many families in our area.

I want to say thank you to each and every one of you who donated a coat or winter item. Naper Settlement, the Naperville Jaycees and Indian Prairie School District 204 should be applauded for their joint efforts.
