Police say man didn't register
Prospect Heights police said they've arrested Thomas Ray Lao, 42, of the 1000 block of Cove Drive, and charged him with felony unlawful failure to register as a sex offender. Lau was picked up at his home Saturday after the Minneapolis Police Department said he had not registered with that department since 2005. Lau has been living at the Cove Drive address since 2007 without registering, police said. His bond was set at $250,000 and his court date is March 17.
District 207 begins interviews
Maine Township High School District 207's school board this week is conducting its first round of interviews with candidates to replace Superintendent Joel Morris. Forty-two candidates applied, a majority of whom have experience as either a superintendent or assistant superintendent. The school board will pare down that list, interview finalists and select the superintendent by early April. The new superintendent will start on July 1.
