Dist. 211 artificial turf a waste of money
This sounds like a ridiculous waste of money considering the state of the economy. One would have thought that the new District 211 superintendent would have put a halt to this by now. Also apparently only one member of the school board voted against this. Is there anyone other than one person involved with District 211 who even cares about getting the best use of the tax funds available?
Somehow I just cannot understand why all of a sudden all of our District 211 high schools need artificial turf for their football fields. In the past only large major universities and colleges - or the ones with high endowments - had artificial turf. Even Harper College, which is right across the street from the District 211 executive offices does not have this.
If District 211 has about $10 million to get rid of perhaps it should be given back to the taxpayers. There are probably about 50,000 residences in our school district. If the refund is divided evenly each household would receive $200. Many of the taxpayers in our district who have lost their jobs or are retired would be very happy to get this check.
If this is the way our new District 211 superintendent and our school board are going to manage our school budget we need some new players.
This is a good example of government in Illinois way out of control. It is no wonder why the only solution to the Illinois budget deficit will probably be a tax increase - which in turn will keep even more companies from locating in Illinois.
This is a very serious situation that needs everyone involved in government to assist with.
