Police seek youths shooting pellet guns at bikers

Lake in the Hills police are looking for two teenage boys suspected of using pellet guns to shoot at people using the Hoffman property bike trail on Route 31.

Police said they received several reports last week of people being shot at with pellet guns. No serious injuries were reported.

The suspects are described as two boys between 14 and 16, and about 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 7 inches in height, according to a police statement.

Witnesses told police in one incident the suspects were both wearing khaki shorts, one wearing a blue Cary Trojans shirt, the other wearing a green shirt and a red Angels baseball hat.

Police said in a separate incident, the suspects were described as one with a thin build wearing black shorts and a gray short sleeve shirt with a black and blue bicycle helmet. The second was described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a heavier build wearing tan shorts, a red short sleeve shirt and a red ski mask.

The use of ski masks have been reported in two of the incidents, either red or blue in color, the release said.
