For the love of the wilderness
Learn about the life of conservationist, author and naturalist John Muir (1838-1914), known as the "Father or Yosemite," as humanities scholar and actor John Wallace portrays Muir at the Geneva History Center. Muir is often referred to as the founder of the Sierra Club, and he worked closely with President Theodore Roosevelt, helping to advance the creation of Yosemite National Park and the American National Park system.

The Lincolns ... on that fateful night
Spend an evening with President Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary, in the hour before they left the White House for Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865 - the night of Lincoln's assassination. "An Evening With President and Mrs. Lincoln" is open to all ages. Seating is limited. The program is part of the bicentennial celebration of Lincoln's birth in 1809.
Facts: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the Lake County Discovery Museum, at 27277 Forest Preserve Road, Wauconda. Admission is $5-$8 for Lake County residents and $7-$11 for nonresidents.
