Two charged in connection with Wheaton burglary

Wheaton police arrested two men early Friday morning in connection with a burglary at the downtown Wheaton Limited Fine Jewelers.

David A. Neal, 40, of 29W620 Sunset Ridge, Bartlett, and Roger D. Green, 39, 1621 S. Lawndale Ave., Chicago, have been charged with felony burglary, according to a news release from the Wheaton Police Department. Both men are being held at the police station awaiting appearances in bond court.

Area residents called 911 around 2:30 a.m. Friday when they heard breaking glass nearby, police said.

When officers arrived, they reported seeing two men running away from the business at 128 N. Hale St. The men got into a car and drove away, with officers following, until they crashed into a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of North Santa Rosa Avenue, according to police.

Officers found one man after a short chase and the second one with assistance from the Warrenville police dog. Police said they recovered multiple stolen items.
