Durty Nellies to host summer fun train event

C'mon ride the summer fun train. The party starts Saturday, June 6, at Durty Nellie's in Palatine with beach-themed cocktails, beers and small bites. Guests board the summer fun train, the Metra, at 2:24 p.m. and party to Caribbean tunes and treats along the way to Duke's in Crystal Lake. Guests arrive to find barbecue appetizers and select beers. The train departs at 4 p.m. to head back to Durty Nellie's. Cost is $35 per person. Reservations required. Call (847) 358-9150.

Wine beautifully

Please your palate surrounded by spectacular lakes and garden vistas Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7, at the third annual Chicago Botanic Garden Wine Festival. The event features 40 wine vendors who will offer samples of more than 250 wines. Mingle while listening to live music or catch cooking demonstrations from the main stage. Wine and beer by the glass will be available for purchase. Food vendors include Morton's, Pappadeaux Seafood and Tramanto's. Non-garden members pay $30 at the door for a souvenir wine class and 10 tasting tickets. Take the train: Parking is $20.
