Draw inspiration at Volunteer of the Year luncheon

Speaker and author Steve Gilliland has been chosen as this year's keynote speaker at Schaumburg's Volunteer of the Year Awards Luncheon on April 15.

His new book, "Mum's the Word," identifies eight lessons in leadership. Through his written works and in his talks, he inspires people to better themselves in their business and personal lives.

Among his messages about leadership are to be purpose-driven rather than process-driven and to continually learn more about oneself and others.

The luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Chicago Marriott Schaumburg, 50 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg.

Nominations are being sought through April 1 in the individual adult, individual youth and organization categories.

Nominators should submit the name, address and phone number of themselves and their nominee, as well as a statement of the nominee's contributions.

Entries should be sent to Volunteer of the Year, Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg IL 60193.

Each year's winners are chosen by a panel of judges.
