Grafton town hall will cost us
For 20 years, I served as a trustee for Grafton Township working with others very dedicated to the needs and pocketbooks of our fellow Grafton Township citizens.
Over the past two years, all of our past hard work and dedication has gone up in smoke as a new group of trustees has put the issue of the proposed $5 million township hall in front of every other issue. It does not seem to matter to the current trustees that the proposed building will either necessitate another large increase in the tax rate or the bankruptcy of the township.
Four outstanding citizens have demonstrated to these trustees that the township will be $3.5 million in the hole at the end of 20 years when the building will be paid off.
These same trustees have refused to give any data on how the building will be paid for without an increase in taxes. In fact, the newest elected trustee has said in a public meeting that he does not care if there is a deficit. I urge trustees Gerry McMahon, Betty Zirk and Robert LaPorta to resign immediately. These people are wasting tens of thousands of our hard-earned dollars chasing this project.
