Scouting Glenbard West boys basketball

Glenbard West

Coach: Tim Hoder.

Last year: 3-23, 0-12, seventh in West Suburban Silver; lost 67-60 to Batavia in Class 4A Waubonsie Valley regional quarterfinals.

Top players: Michael Mache, jr., F; Matthew Mache, jr., F; Todd Lowery, sr., C; Justin Taylor, jr., G; Jeff Levesque, so., G; Deshawn Elliott, sr., G; Evan Fischl, sr., F; Nick Burrello, sr., G.

Scouting report: The 6-foot-6 Mache twins are entering their third varsity season and are prepared to bring significant improvement to the Hilltoppers. Michael averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds as a sophomore while Matthew represents one of the team's top shooters. Lowery, also 6-6, started some in the post last year. Levesque steps in at the point as a sophomore, while Taylor saw varsity time last year as a sophomore. With fewer football players on the roster Burrello, who saw significant time last year, is one of them the Hilltoppers should be better prepared to hit the ground running this season as they try to improve their toughness, rebounding and defense. "We'll be better than last year, but we're still building," Hoder said.
